Redesigning a WordPress website: what to keep and what to change
A practical redesign workflow covering existing content, page scope, photographs and checks before publishing your WordPress site.
Start with the visitor’s task
An outdated website can still contain valuable information. Before choosing a design, identify the main task: understand a service, book an appointment, find a location or send an inquiry. Use that task to order the page. Not every detail belongs in the hero, and not every section needs a separate URL.
Separate facts, assets and design preferences
Make three lists. Facts include current services, contact details, hours and conditions. Assets include your logo, original photographs, documents and verifiable testimonials. Design preferences explain what your brand requires and what can change. A blurry old photograph is not automatically suitable, but a useful original photograph should not be replaced without a reason.
Agree on the pages first
For a small site, Home can summarize the offer, services, process and common questions. Contact can focus on communication channels and the inquiry form. If services need their own detailed page, agree on it before production. A section on Home is not an extra page. GALI supports an agreed scope of one to three pages; a Home + Contact modernization costs 21 credits before optional extras.
How GALI uses the existing URL
Modernization requires the current website URL. Research of accessible pages provides business context and facts. It does not make the old design a template to copy. Sections should suit the sector, and pages should share one visual identity. If information is blocked, outdated or missing, provide the correct details. Prices, reviews and contact information must not be invented to fill empty areas.
A redesign is not a complete SEO migration
Inventory existing URLs before replacing a published site. Decide which stay and map changed URLs to equivalent destinations with suitable redirects. Check internal links and the sitemap too. Google’s URL migration guide explains the process. Importing two new pages does not migrate every old URL or guarantee unchanged rankings.
Review the destination before publishing
Download the finished package from Downloads and test it on a WordPress backup or staging site. Check every page, internal navigation, header, photographs and forms. Verify business facts against your records. Package validation does not configure the destination mailbox or replace checks on the hosting where you install it.

Find your final download, distinguish an installable package from a JSON or asset archive, and review the WordPress import.
